About
Genuine Story House is for curious readers and writers who like peeking behind the page. We explore how stories take shape: through characters, scenes, structure, voice and revision. The aim is not to prescribe a formula, but to make the craft easier to notice and experiment with.
A workshop for the curious
A story can turn on a detail as small as a door left open or a sentence held back. We examine how such choices affect what a reader notices, expects and feels. Topics range from building a character's wants to finding a scene's point of change.
Try, notice, adjust
We favour ideas a writer can test without special equipment or a perfect writing routine. A prompt might help a scene, or it might send it in the wrong direction. We treat that result as information, not failure, and leave room for different styles and purposes.
For readers and makers
You do not need to be writing a book to enjoy looking at how stories work. Readers can find new ways to notice a character's choices or a narrator's voice; writers can use the same observations as starting points for their own drafts.
